February Pre-Disney

Dear Kiddos,
February was kind of a exciting month, so I'm going to split it into 2 posts. Pre-Disney and then Disney and Beyond.

At the beginning of the month, Nathan, you and your Lego robotics club with to your first ever tournament. This is a competition that is open to 9-14 year olds and I would say most of the participants were in the middle school range. We learned a few crucial rules during the trial run that set you guys back. You all had to re-strategize, rebuild and re-code your robot to get it to complete all the tasks that you guys have worked so hard the last few months to complete. Your first official run turned out ok, and then after a few hours of stress and deep concentration, your second run completely bombed. You guys shook it off and continued on for the third and final round. Nathan, you kind of took the lead at first, but then the rest of the team stepped in and you guys were able to have a robot run that was good enough to place 13 out of 33 teams. I don't think you guys have ever been so stressed out in your life. It was cool to see you guys work through all of it and to come out successful in the end.

Hannah, your class put on a play about the solar system. Each of the students were planets or things related to space travel. You all did the research and wrote your own lines. It was super cute.
You even made your own dwarf planets!
On week 2, Hannah, you and I went to Dallas area for you to compete in the annual WOGA tournament. This is a huge tournament with people competing from all around the world. We saw some amazing athletes and it was inspiring to walk and be among so much greatness. Auntie Momo lives super close to the venue, so we had her come over and we had a mini spa night in our hotel.
On the day of, we went and got your carb-y breakfast from a Chinese bakery. So good.
This competition venue was huge! 8 competition arenas!

Afterwards, we went to a Korean BBQ place and got a lot of yummy food.
When we got home, Hailey was so glad to see you that she wanted to take this picture with you.
And then there was the belt test. Hailey, you worked hard and you were advanced to a yellow with white stripe.
Hannah,  you were a 4th level brown belt and was expected to have just another level to be added to your brown belt, but Sensei thought you were ready and promoted you to a red belt!

And Nathan, you just earned another level on your red belt...not to be taken lightly because it took a lot of hard work for you to earn your red belt!

As you can see, we've had lots of highs in February and on top of that, we were able to go on a trip to Orlando. Now that Hailey is cleared to be a normal kid, we thought we would celebrate by visiting Disney World and Universal studios all in one week! Challenge accepted!

You can read about it in the next post.
Until Then,
Love,
Mom (because I don't know when the switch happened, but everyone calls me mom now)
