Nathan's Kindergarten Legacy: It's a Funny one...

Funny story alert:
So to preface the story, I'd like to tell you about the food sharing table at our elementary school. Instead of throwing food away, kids can put their unopened food items on the table and kids who are still hungry may take food from the table. Most of the time, the things left on the table are fruit, milk and the occasional much coveted pirate's booty. Nathan, you've been so proud to announce your daily loots from the food sharing table but you made a point to tell me that you always make sure to only take 1 chocolate milk.
So fast forward to yesterday (which was a Tuesday), and we were walking to the school to take advantage of the open library Wednesdays...mom fail on my part, but that's not the point of the story... Anyways, we walked by a classroom and I see a person look out the window and wave. I look up, and I probably had a puzzled look on my face because the person immediately points down, as if she was pointing towards you Nathan. I ask you to look at the window. Your face immediately lights up as you sees one of the custodians. You quickly say, "They are the ladies in the cafeteria!" The lady opens up the window and asks you how you are doing and you reply politely. The lady then turns around and says to another person, "Venga! Es la leche nino!" (Come! It's the milk boy) Immediately 2 other faces pop up at the window and they all wave Hi to him.

Apparently you drink 2-3 milks a day at school (although you claim to drink maybe only 1 or 2)...

And that is your Kindergarten legacy!

We politely had a brief conversation and then we continued on our walk to the closed library.

Dear Kids,
We've been trying to stay busy-ish now that school is out. We visited the Thinkery and only got to finish playing in the downstairs area (they have a new exhibit finally!) before we had to leave.

Another day we went to UT and you big kids were Guinnea pigs in a study about accents. Hailey had fun playing in the room filled with toys while you two participated in the study.
We worked on making stuff for our church's VBS. You two helped me paint the larger sections of the scenes. I was very impressed.

Hailey, you are now getting to be a master of communication. You first pointed at the box of ice cream cones. I got one out for you, thinking that you may just want to snack on the cone.
 Then you showed me this....
So of course, I got you some strawberry ice cream.

We also got a bunch of new board games from a person down the street from us, so we've been learning lots of new games. Your current favorite is Sumo HamSlam.

Hailey likes to feed the hamsters after a tough training session.
On Saturday, while Daddy was at hockey I took all three of you down to the local home depot to work on their maker's workshop project. This was a really cool one. Hailey, besides wanting to chuck the golf balls everywhere, you did pretty good.
On Sunday we wanted to test out a new road that opened by our house, so after church we drove down to Cabelas, had lunch, and took the new toll road home. Huge difference!

I think out of all the times we've taken you guys, this time was the most engaging...I don't know if it's because Nathan, you can now read, but you all were super excited about seeing all the things!
At night, Nathan, you still come down after bed time to play board games. Guess what you usually request?
The next 2 pics are just crazy hair pics. Enjoy.

Hailey after nap time
Hailey's vocabulary has grown and you are now even able to mimic most words that we say. You love to sing along to the VBS CD in the car. You love to eat salsa, ketchup, and really any sort of sauce that's not too spicy.

I think your poop is looking much more normal now that we've started you on lactose free milk. I'm not sure if it was a coincidence or not, but I'm going to reintroduce regular milk to you in a few days and see how you react.

We will be have a super exciting next 2 weeks, so be prepared for fun!!!

Until next week,
Love,
Mommy
