Fun with Grandparents

Dear Kids,
This past week we had Daddy's parents come visit from Chicago. The weather was on the cool side (it's like they brought the cold weather down) but that didn't stop us from spending time outside. On Monday we drove out to Fredericksburg to visit Wildseed farms. They had fields of flowers blooming, but it was tough to find spots to take pictures. This is the best we could've done.

As you can see behind you all are a field of poppy flowers.
On our little hike, Hailey, you were obsessed with the rocks that were scattered along the path. You would stop, bend down and pick each one up to show me.
A huge field of these red beauties was so picturesque. I couldn't capture it on camera.
This is as close as I could get to a bluebonnet field picture.
Grandma gifted you guys with a little blueberry fairy house, which now sits in our little backyard fairy garden.

Afterwards, we met up with Daddy at a restaurant in a remodeled old train car. The food was pretty delicious. Upscale american diner food.
On Saturday I had a roller derby bout in San Marcos. Hannah, I suggested that you come later with the family, but you insisted on coming with me from the very start. So you accompanied me to san Marcos and as we warmed up and practiced, you sat contently in your little chair. All the girls on the team commented on how well behaved you were. It was windy and cold, but you stuck it through to avoid hearing "I told you so." When the family arrived, you joined them on the sidelines to watch me play.

Nathan, you were very busy at the game...as you can see from the picture below, so involved that you couldn't even pause to take a picture with us... even though we limit your screen time to 30-45 minutes a day, you've thrown quite a few tantrums over it and I'm starting to seriously consider taking this privilege away.

On Thursday Nathan participated in the school's fundraiser run. You all ran for 30 minutes and you ended up running 2.5 miles!
Thursday we also went to martial arts and at the end of class, you all made an impromptu tunnel for kids to crawl under. It was a very fun class as there was also an impromptu group hug with the girls at some point.
Then on Saturday, auntie Momo and Ama came to visit. I attended a workshop at church so you guys got to spend lots of time with our visitors. Hailey, you even painted your own painting!
Daddy and Nathan got to go to epic fun for laser tag and arcade along with BBQ date night. The girls, we went to costco and then a Chinese restaurant for what seemed like a seafood fest. Hailey, you particularly liked to suck the sauce off of the clams and to eat the little scallop piece that's stuck on the shells. Hannah, you ate your weight in shrimp. But it's good to know that there's a relatively authentic restaurant so close to our house.
Today, we went to the circus that was in town. We saw acrobatics, juggling, clown tricks, you know, all the circusy stuff (sans animals). It was fun and exciting.

It's been raining all weekend. On the way out the sun peeked out for a few moments and we got a stranger to snap a family picture for us.
Well, Ama is here to stay for a few weeks, so we'll see what sort of adventures we go on with her.

Until next week,
Love,
Mommy
