Birthday Celebrations and Grandparents

Dear Hannah and Nathan,
Before I start going over all the exciting events that happened this week, I want to talk briefly about Mom identity, which I now believe is something that most moms have to re-find at some point in their mom-career. While 9 months of pregnancy physically helps prepare you for the disrupted sleep schedules, erratic meals, and exhaustion, I believe that there's also some sort of identity crisis that most moms go through, especially if they stay at home. Well, without going too far into this, I'd like to say I feel like I've figured out the role that I'm meant to play right now in this stage of life. I finally feel like there's a good balance of mom, wife, and Jessica to keep me feeling like an independent person.

Ok, with that out of the way, let's talk about birthday celebrations! For one of the birthdays, we went to a jump house where both of you had a blast. Towards the end, Hannah totally threw a major tantrum and was simply hysterical as you simply didn't know what you wanted to do.
There was quite a few moments of inventive fun.
The next day, we celebrated another friend's birthday at Stubbs Graceland. They had a pretty amazing play ground that we spent lots of time at. Nathan and your friend Laz had lots of fun on the tire swing. Hannah tried it out for a moment and found out that you were not quite ready for the amount of swing that the big boys liked.
But, there were plenty of other things for you to play.

Hannah really likes bike rides. Sunday afternoon, we all strapped on our shoes to get ready to go to evening church. Hannah insisted on wearing a helmet and walked to the garage with it on. When you were plopped down in your carseat, you were very disappointed and threw another tantrum, while crying "bakarad" (bike ride) the whole way. (Other silly things you say include riff-riff for cereal, odie for yogurt, and ha-doe for here you go.)
On Memorial day, we drove down to San Antonio's Doseum. You guys had a blast. This museum is the perfect place for kids your age to explore. We will definitely be going again soon.

On Tuesday, we dropped by the wildflower center for a quick trip before soccer practice. There were lots of flowers in bloom, the most that I've seen ever and grandma even spotted a baby rattlesnake! I had given Nathan a camera to take pictures of all the different flowers that we spotted and you were able to walk the whole way!
In the afternoon before grandma and grandpa had to leave, you guys went out searching for rocks to put in your David satchel.
You guys were both sad to see grandma and grandpa leave. We always have lots of fun when they are here.

Until next week,
Love,
Mommy
