Two Teeth @ 31 Weeks + Adventures Galore

Whew, it's been a rough few days. It's 9 pm and I'm finally getting to sit down to update the blog.

Dear Hannah,
It's been a rough few days for you. You have been teething for the past week and on top of that, you were diagnosed with hand, foot, and mouth disease tonight. The nights right before your new teeth emerged, you were fussy and found it difficult to fall asleep. And when you did fall asleep, you didn't stay asleep for long. But after all that, you now have 2 little pearly whites poking through.

After waking up from your nap today, you were acting very strange. You were extra fussy and didn't want to eat. So our doctor (who happens to live across the street) was nice enough to come over after work to take a look at you. Turns out that you have hand, foot, and mouth disease. This explains the weird rash that you've had on your butt and fingers (which I thought were due to teething and ant bite, respectively), along with your lack of appetite.

I've lost quite a bunch of quality sleep recently, and I'm sure you haven't been sleeping well too, so hopefully, we have passed the hump and it's all down hill from here.
You liked chewing on carrots to help soothe your gums.
On to more positive things. Hannah, you continue to babble and talk. You even laugh and smile more. You also have a cute little curl on the right side of your head. Your hair is mostly fine and straight, except for a little tuft above your right ear. We should call you Alf-Alpha.
Books used to be just another thing to put in your mouth, but now, you are starting to really enjoy the pictures in the book. One of your favorite books is a touch-and-feel animal book. You always squeal with joy when you see the cute little puppy dogs.

Dear Nathan,
We had a pretty exciting week. You really enjoyed Grandma and Grandpa visiting from Illinois and you were sad to see them go. The weather was quite nice for most of their visit so we tried to spend as much time outdoors as possible. On Sunday, we went to the Botanical Gardens. You were particularly interested in the fairy homes exhibit. You just found the miniature homes fascinating as you pointed out all the little details from doors to swings.

You also found waterfalls particularly interesting as well. You got pretty excited when you would see one.
We also spotted a dinosaur statue (which was kind of disappointing).
By the end of the visit, you were pretty tired and ready to take a nap.
The next morning, we drove to Marble falls to go strawberry picking. You were pretty excited and really liked wearing your sunglasses.
Hannah always likes to check out what you are doing. This is something I see a lot while driving.
But then eventually, she fell asleep.
There were quite a few squishy ones, moldy ones, and green ones. Pretty soon, you learned what to look for.

There were some goats on the farm as well. I was surprised at how close you got to them.

But I think the highlight of your trip was the chance to ride a tractor. You climbed up and started to pretend drive it. In the middle of the ride, you asked me if it was not real... I was kind of surprised by your question.
Afterwards, we had a picnic at a park nearby and then you got to play at the play ground a bit. Boy, you really like the swings. When we got home, I made some strawberry cobbler with the strawberries and it was delicious.

Your favorite phrases this week are: "I know." "I don't like that." and "I don't know."
A common conversation goes like this:
Nathan: Mommy, that come from? (which means, "what is that?")
Me: You mean, What is that?
Nathan: I don't know.
Me: It's a [insert label]

Oh, you also know your opposites. We talked about what they were on a short car ride and soon you were spouting out opposites. How cool is that?

Ok, Well, I'm sure I'm missing out on a lot of details, but until next week, lots of love!

Mommy
